14 Year Old Woman Gets Run Over Because She Refused $200 Sexual Proposal

What's wrong with this headline? EVERYTHING. Fourteen is not the age of adulthood, this is childhood. It upset me greatly that one report would dare to term this child as a woman and somehow marginalize the devastating impact of this crime- unintentional, maybe. Let it not be ignored that while this would be awful if it happened to woman of sexual consenting age, it makes a deeper cut when this behavior is aimed at a child. That being said...

This story comes from the State of Florida. (pause for the shaking of many heads) It was 7pm on Sunday the 22nd of September 2013 when a fourteen year old girl was walking down the road. Adrian Mendez, age 21, approached her in his SUV and propositioned her $200 to have sex with him. Stop. Right. There.

(Below is the mugshot of Adrian Mendez, remember this face if he goes free.)

What could have triggered in his brain to make him believe that a fourteen year old girl, a girl period, would be someone to not only lust after but to offer money to to satisfy his devious sexual desires? If he were to argue that her physical appearance was misleading and he thought she was older, the next question would be "what made you think that this random person was someone remotely open to the possibility of PPP (Pay Per Pleasure)?" No answer would grant him pardon. The story does not end there...

The young girl refused Mendez's sexual proposal and that sparked his rage. The victim, from her hospital bed, told police that he grabbed her hair and pulled her into his SUV and strangled her until she passed out. Passed out! From there, Mendez threw her out of the car, literally. This story goes from bad to worse to HORRIFIC. Adrian Mendez began to do something incomprehensible- he drove his SUV over this fourteen year old girl's body REPEATEDLY! Thank God, some people began to notice what he was doing and screamed for him to stop. Witnesses were astonished at what they were seeing, they could not believe it was a young girl's body in the street being purposefully run over not once or twice but multiple times. Mendez stopped when the screams made him aware that he was being watched, then he fled. Cowardly and pathetic. When help arrived they found the girl's body laying in the street on Wilson Parrish Road near Umatilla. The victim needed to be airlifted to the hospital where she would be treated for the life threatening injuries she sustained- neck injuries and crushed hips and legs. No person should have to experience this, even more so a child- a child protecting her self.

I will say this, in this awful incident I see two victories. The first, this brave little girl protected her value and tried to protect her well being, she demonstrated wisdom. The second, the screaming witnesses who got the criminal to stop trying to kill this young girl and it resulted in saving her life. More great news is that she positively identified Adrian Mendez from a photo line-up, he was arrested at his home in Marion County, Florida the next day (Monday) and has been charged with attempted murder, aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and false imprisonment. The victim is in stable condition. She is a survivor!

Thankful

I'm thankful. In the midst of it all, I count my blessings, at least I try to. God has been unbelievably great to me, it's the small and often unnoticed blessings that really take my breath away. For instance, this time two years ago I was in and out of the hospital with breathing problems caused by allergies, since then God has blessed me in ways I would never have imagined and I'm breathing y'all! In addition, He's moved people and things out of my life that had no benefit to me at all AND He's done major construction on me myself (I know how I wrote that). What I mean is that He's brought me to new levels of maturity so that I could see where I was not benefiting to others as well. It takes MAJOR growth to recognize and own up to your own faults and to then realize improvement doesn't come from you in solitary.

I'm thankful. No, all things are not perfect and I do not have all that I want in life BUT I am finally at the point that I realize- if I never get EVERYTHING I want in life, which is impossible because we as humans always want more, I am satisfied. It's in this satisfaction that I find peace NOT complacency; and I've found the drive to go after visions. Why visions? Because visions are vivid images of revelations (revealed matters) and goals are set to attain them. You see, visions are larger than goals. I aim to live life larger than itself!

I'm thankful and I owe my Heavenly Father God my best and my all. I'm grateful.

What about you?

"I Saw Your New Love. I'm Better." Really???

For years I've wondered why we feel the urge to compare our Ex's new person to ourselves. Why?

We compare body type, facial beauty or attractiveness, style of dress but taking it further we do the whole social media search. I'm telling you, the FBI or Secret Service could hire some of us with the serious super sleuthing skills we possess! You KNOW you've done it, haha, I'll admit I've done it too. Men, don't laugh because you do it too and some of you are probably in the process of doing it right now!

Again, I ask why? Does it really matter who they're with after us? Maybe it's a matter of closure or us wanting to know where we didn't measure up? Should we improve? There are many questions here but the main one I will focus on is:

"Why tear the NEXT down just because you're the EX?" Truth is she/he could be the most gorgeous person EVER or look like the Blobfish- it does not matter! What matters is that they're NOT with you (us). I don't mean to be harsh but what I want us to understand is that it's not necessarily a bad thing. Both of you have the possibility to do better, clearing opportunity for the PERFECT ONE FOR YOU to come into your life. Take note that I said "perfect for you" not "perfect person". No one is perfect but some people just FIT together.

Below are lyrics from a song but they're all too familiar in everyday conversation. I cannot tell you the amount of times I've heard something like this and I will admit, I have succumb to it in the past. ("She Can't Love You" by Destiny's Child)

Could we all agree that looking behind takes the focus off of moving ahead? I think we could. So why stay focused on the Ex and their new "Boo"? They've moved on and so should you! Don't get me wrong, a broken or bruised heart needs time to heal and that's the reason you should NEVER jump right into another relationship after a breakup. Spend that time learning more about yourself, going after dreams, planning your life, finishing things you've started, reconnecting with family and friends, etc. If you don't do any of this you run the risk of looking pathetic, dependent and lost BUT you're stronger than that!

It's true some of us really do need Boyfriend/Girlfriend Rehabilitation Services... There might be an app for that! (haha)

After you get the 'app' and have begun to heal its time to let go of them, both your Ex and the unhealthy obsession with the new love interest. Take time to evaluate the relationship you had. What was the good you would like to keep and enjoy in another relationship? What was the bad that you will not and cannot accept? What did you bring to the table and what can you now bring to the table (after you've had time to yourself- being a BETTER YOU)? Lastly, what are some things you expect your future mate to bring to the table? (Keep in mind, people have faults so expecting absolute perfection is ludicrous).

I want to hear from you, COMMENT below.

"She's Not An American. Why Did She Win???"

Nina Davuluri, an Asian-American, is an American!

From the time she uttered those words to remark that she and her fellow pageant mate are "Asian-Americans" Twitter, Facebook and a slew of other social media has been set ablaze with ignorance.

In actuality, Nina Davuluri embodies what America truly is- a combination of many cultures living under one oath, the Pledge of Allegiance. We are not a melting pot anymore, we are a mixed salad! Cultures come and adapt to living conditions but never lose sight of who they are and that's excellent.

So if you have a problem with that I suggest you cook at home and NEVER go out for take out- No Italian, Chinese, Thai, West Indian/Caribbean, NONE OF IT! The only thing that I've heard was an all American dish was 'The Apple Pie' and even that isn't. It's European! Apples did not exist here until they were brought over and trees were planted. http://m.huffpost.com/us/entry/2369851 (Oh and that blurb about offending the devoutly "religious" - I'm not religious I'm a Christian so I know God created nature and creature before mankind. Confused you? Ask me about it sometime.)

In addition to cooking your own meals, you should also learn to make your own clothes, rear your own children, maintain your households on your own, do your own yard work, stop traveling, and use ABSOLUTELY NOTHING imported. Sounds absurd? Well so do the the thousands of people who share the opinion that if you aren't white you're not right or in this case "American". By the way, America was named after an Italian explorer named Amerigo Vespucci. http://www.loc.gov/wiseguide/aug03/america.html

I've said it before and I'll say it again, the ONLY people who have a right to say ANYTHING regarding anyone's origins in THIS COUNTRY are the NATIVES (I won't call them Native American because for them this land was NOT America). Truth is, if every family in this country did a DNA family search they'd ALL have hyphens added to their "American". We all hail from SOMEWHERE and are now blessed to call this land our home.

(Above: Miss New York before becoming Miss America, Nina Davuluri, wowing the crowd with her beautiful Bollywood inspired dance routine- I LOVED IT!)

If you're angry, too bad. If you're happy about it, great! Vent on this post, I want to read what you have to say. Comment.
