I got the chance to interview a remarkable young woman who is following her dreams of entrepreneurship. Her name is Destinee Joyner, age 17. Her company, Chey Cosmetics, LLC (fabulous natural lipsticks by the way). What an inspiration, check out the interview below:

CS: This is your first introduction to CrystalSays.com- WELCOME! Here, we are all about showing the fierceness and honesty of the female experience. Congratulations on your company- Chey Cosmetics, LLC. I’ve got to ask you, what made you want to start your own business, during high school no less?

DJ: "My mother received a bad batch of homemade lipstick made by someone local. It wasn’t structured properly and as she started to apply it to her lips it started to crumple. So we decided ‘why not try to make our own and sell it for affordable prices’".

CS: You could have gone another route and help to build some one else’s dream, that would have been easier but you chose a hands-on approach. Why? How did you come up with the concept?

DJ: "When I go off to college I would like to study business, so I figured this would be the perfect opportunity for me to learn about business. I came up with the concept by internet researching and trying to focus on natural products."

CS: Where do you get your inspiration?

DJ: "I got my inspiration from products like MAC and Nars."

CS: Those are two great cosmetic companies but the business world is no joke; do you have a support system? How do you handle the pressures?

DJ: "Yes I have a strong support system. I pace myself upon supply and demand."

CS: You’re on your way to college- with a head start and you appear to have a strong head on your shoulders. A lot of people do not think about their futures, from what I have seen, you clearly do. Do you have a 5-year goal?

DJ: "In 5 years I see myself graduated from college, still expanding my business, and living on my own."

CS: Well alright… I hear you, go girl! For girls and women, who are reading this and are feeling inspired to follow in your footsteps of entrepreneurship, what advice would you give?

DJ: "Do not be afraid to step outside the box and be yourself. Stay determined and never give up."
